GPA National Executive Committee 2016:
David is a current Galway hurler. David has been heavily involved in the work of the GPA for the last number of years. He has been a member of the GPA since 2005 and a member of the National Executive Committee since 2011. David also served as GPA Secretary from 2013 through 2015.
Cathal is a current Roscommon footballer. Over the past few seasons Cathal has been a powerhouse in driving Roscommon back to Division 1. He is currently Connacht GAA's Strength and Conditioning Officer and is also undertaking a PhD in Exercise Physiology that focuses on the Physiological and Technical Demands of club level Gaelic Football.
Noel is current Waterford hurler and a two-time All Star. Having made his debut in 2009, Noel has picked up a Munster title and a National Hurling League title and has been key to their success. Noel has gone through the GPA's Madden Leadership programme and is completing a PhD in Waterford IT with his studies revolving around ‘club leadership within the GAA'.
Mattie is a current Tyrone footballer, All Star and has represented Ireland in the International Rules. He was a vital component in Tyrones recapturing of the Ulster title this year. Off the field, he works as an Associate Consultant at PwC UK in their Belfast offices.
Aidan is a current Armagh footballer and former MacRory Cup winner in 2010. Aidan is a teacher and has served as the Students' Union Vice President at St Mary's University College in Belfast. His aim to help the GPA grow as part of the NEC and represent players from the North as best he can.
GPA Secretary Paul Flynn is a current Dublin footballer, collecting 3 All Ireland medals and 4 All Stars since 2011. Aside from an astounding career on the pitch, Paul graduated with first class honours from PE & Biology at DCU, before changing careers in Human Resources and he is now the Commercial Director at Lincoln Recruitment Specialists.
John is a long time support of the GPA and a founding Partner and Managing Partner of RSM Ireland (formerly Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon). He led the firm over a period of growth and evolution, harnessing and aligning the energy of a very capable group of professionals, to achieve a top ten position in the Irish marketplace with over 130 people employed in Dublin, Birr & Portlaoise.
Philip is a former Sligo goalkeeper and is a director of the GPA and serve on the organisation's National Executive and Finance Committees. These roles involve participation in strategy and policy formulation for the Association and financial governance supervision. In his day job, he is a senior manager in Bank of Ireland Corporate and Treasury where he manages a portfolio of clients involved in the aviation finance sector.
GPA Chairman Séamus Hickey is a current Limerick Hurler and All Star. He has collected Munster and NHL titles with Limerick. Séamus was instrumental in the GPA GAA negotiations throughout 2016 which led to a strong new deal for our players. He also managed the super success of the AIG Super 11's Fenway Classic in Boston in 2015 along with chairing our Student Council. Away from the GPA, Séamus is a PhD Researcher at the University of Limerick.
Richie is a current Kilkenny Hurler and one of the most decorated hurlers of this generation, with 7 All Ireland medals, 3 All Stars and Player of the Year in 2014. Richie was a big part of the GPA's negotiation team for the GPA GAA deal this year and is a long standing member of the NEC. Richie is currently a primary school teacher in Dublin and recently completed a Masters in Management at DCU.
