The GPA and Ulster University invite applications for scholarship opportunities
Members of the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) are invited to apply for a fully funded post-graduate scholarships available at Ulster University for the forthcoming academic year. The four scholarships are available to GPA members for all post-graduate programmes on offer at Ulster University and more information about the programmes can be found here.
The application process is now open and will close on July 15th 2022. With interest in these opportunities very high over the past four years of the partnership, players are encouraged to research the programmes and apply early.
Applications should be made to the GPA’s Education Manager Karen Thorpe – karen@gaelicplayers.com. Successful applicants will be selected using criteria agreed by the GPA and Ulster University.
The application process for the 2022/2023 academic year was opened at an event hosted at UU’s Jordanstown Campus on Wednesday June 8th, attended by current inter-county players and Ulster University students Tom Close, Niamh Forker, Orla Mulgrew and Padraig Doran, GPA Welfare and Engagement Officer Chris Kerr and Ulster University Students’ Union Sports Manager David Flynn.
Speaking to mark the opening of the application process Dr John Farrell Ulster University GAA President said; “We are delighted to continue our partnership with the GPA. High level sports achievement and academic achievement are intrinsically linked and our previous scholarship recipients have attained great success in their both their chosen courses and sports. At Ulster University we are keen to ensure that we provide an environment that allows players to thrive on and off the field of play.”
