Trinity Business School expands its partnership with The Gaelic Players Association
Trinity Business School and The Gaelic Players Association (GPA) have announced details of an expansion of the scholarship agreement which has been in place between the two bodies since last year. From the 2022/2023 academic year two annual scholarships per annum in waived fees will be available to GPA members in the Trinity Business School Masters programme.
These two scholarships will be in addition to two scholarships already in place for the Trinity Business School MBA or Executive MBA Programmes which were awarded for the current academic year.
Trinity Business School will provide 50% or €10,000 fee waiver (whichever is lower) for the course with the GPA equaling that investment in the players selected.
All applications will be assessed using a set of criteria agreed between Trinity Business School and the GPA with successful applicants to be known as Trinity Business School MSc-GPA Scholars.
Speaking to mark the expanded partnership with Trinity Business School GPA CEO Tom Parsons said; “I want to thank Trinity Business School on behalf of players, for the significant investment they have made in support of furthering their education. Today’s expansion of the existing partnership strengthens the help that we can provide to our members as they aim to flourish off the pitch. Our educational partners are key part of how we are able to create that environment.”
Professor Andrew Burke, Dean of Trinity Business School said; “Reflecting on the success of the introduction of the GPA MBA scholarship in 2021, Trinity Business School is delighted to announce the expansion of the Gaelic Players Association Scholarship to include two Master’s programmes at Trinity Business School for 2022/23. The GAA is the largest amateur sporting organisation in the world and is part of the fabric of Irish life. At Trinity Business School we recognise the unique contribution that GAA athletes bring from the pitch to the classroom, especially in terms of their tenacity, strategic thinking and leadership. Trinity Business School is pleased to help these athletes prepare for life after the game.”
Richie Hogan, MBA GPA Scholar 2021-22 added: “I am delighted to have been selected as the inaugural Trinity Business School Executive MBA scholarship recipient from the GPA. For high performing athletes who wish to pursue dual careers on and off the field it is vital to maintain a balance between work, sport and education. The relationship between the GPA and Trinity Business School is the perfect platform for someone with my background to bring my skills from a 16-year hurling career to the business world and repurpose these skills through an MBA programme to become the best version of myself.”
GPA members wishing to apply for the four scholarships available at Trinity Business School should contact GPA Education Manager Karen Thorpe – karen@gaelicplayers.com. The application process is now open, and will close on May 31st, 2022. GPA members are advised to apply for their preferred Masters Programme early as they are in high demand and will fill up quickly.
