GPA and WGPA seek to identify and develop leaders of the future
The Gaelic Players Association (GPA) and Women’s Gaelic Players Association (WGPA) have opened the application process for members who wish to become part of Next Gen Leaders. Next Gen Leaders is a developmental platform that aims to engage and connect passionate young GPA and WGPA members with the people and resources necessary to influence positive change within our games and our society.
It will provide the participating individuals with the opportunity, resources and challenges to enhance their leadership qualities and amplify their potential to achieve success in both their personal and professional lives. From a GPA and WGPA perspective, it will help identify members who have the potential to lead the players’ bodies in the years to come.
Members between the ages of 20 and 25 can apply to take part in Next Gen Leaders via the application form in the brochure here: NEXT GEN LEADERS.
Players who become part of a group who will provide direct player input on relative strategic objectives within key areas such as Player Welfare, Player Development and Social Change Initiatives. During their term, participants will benefit from:
- Enhanced leadership communication and strategic planning skills
- Career guidance, credibility and experience
- 1 to 1 Personal development coaching
- Mentoring from business leaders
- Networking, training and opportunities input on key strategic association objectives
- Peer to peer learning
Ian Reeves, Player Development Officer at the GPA said; “Next Gen Leaders is all about identifying, developing and giving a voice to young players within both the GPA and WGPA who will in time become the leaders of our associations. Both players’ bodies have got a large proportion of our members under the age of twenty-five and we’re going to ensure their voices are heard on some of the key issues and opportunities facing us in the years ahead. This is another step in that direction.”
The closing date for applications is November 16th.
