Statement on behalf of the GPA

Adrian_FreemanThe GPA would like to extend its condolences to the family, friends, and team mates of Adrian Freeman, Mayo hurler and GPA member, who died tragically in a car accident on Saturday in Australia. The GPA would also like to extend its sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Twomey who died alongside Adrian.

Speaking about the tragedy, GPA Chief Executive said: "The death of a young player and his friend is deeply shocking and on behalf of the Gaelic Players Association I would like to pass on our sincere sympathies to the families and friends of Adrian and Robbie and to all Adrian's playing colleagues with club and county. A GPA member, Adrian was a leading player in Mayo hurling and was honoured for his contribution in last year's Christy Ring Cup as well as being chosen for the Connacht interprovincial hurling panel."
