The Gaelic Players Association would like to extend its deepest sympathies on behalf of its members to the family and friends of Darren Sutherland following his tragic death in London.
The Irish Olympic medal-winner was a much-loved figure in Irish sport and was an inspiration to athletes of all codes even outside the world of boxing.
He brought great pride to his country in Beijing and experts agreed that his potential to become a superstar of professional boxing was enormous.
He is a tremendous loss to Irish sport and will be greatly missed.
