THE Gaelic Players Association congratulates the Kerry senior footballers on landing their fifth All-Ireland title of the decade.
Kerry's consistency as a team is quite remarkable given the demands on the modern footballer and it is a testimony to their dedication and commitment.
Reaching six finals in succession and winning four of them is unrivalled in the history of the game and this group of footballers, lead wonderfully by veteran Darragh Ó Sé, deserve their honoured place in the record books.
Congratulations to Jack O'Connor who has completed a successful return to management and in particular to Tadhg Kennelly, who cut short his professional career to pursue the dream of following in his late father's footsteps. Tadhg has made a wonderful contribution to Gaelic games this year, on and off the field.
Commiserations to a valiant Cork side who lit up this year's championship with their powerful football but just fell short to their old rivals in the final.
Congratulations to all the footballers who participated in this season's football championships and good luck with your clubs during the closed season.
