The GPA would like to congratulate Kilkenny on their historic achievement winning four All-Ireland hurling titles in a row after a terrific final battle with Tipperary. This team has now secured a special place in the game and their success in dominating for such a sustained period is remarkable. It is a testament to the dedication of these amateur players whose commitment to their county and their sport is inspirational.

Commiserations to Tipp who delivered a fine performance and were unlucky to fall short in the end. The Munster champions can also be proud of their achievements this year pushing Kilkenny so close in both national finals. Congratulations to all the hurlers who contributed to the 2009 championships.
